BASIS Independent Silicon Valley's CS Track

Niche's 2026 ranking places it #3 among the best STEM high schools in America. Its CS path is compact compared to Stuyvesant's, but ends somewhere few high schools go: a real independent research project, often built with the same tools working data scientists use.

Senior Project

Independent 3-month research project
Python (Django)LLM toolsData/ML toolsDatabases

An independent research project with a real research question, a weekly blog documenting progress, and a public presentation at the end โ€” genuinely closer to undergraduate research than a typical high school assignment.

Real examples from BASIS seniors: a large-language-model chatbot for patient support, a Python Django web app for reducing food waste, clinical-decision-support LLM research, and sentiment-analysis-based stock forecasting.
